Diving Suit
Diving suits protect a diver from natural hazards such
as stinging animals and sharp coral. They also provide warmth and insulation.
The suits can be divided into two categories: soft and hard.
Soft diving suits are also called ambient suits. These are wetsuits,
dry suits, and dive skins. Soft suits protect from cold and sharp, abrasive
objects. They are usually made from Neoprene. Buoyancy is a side effect
of most of these suits and can be combated with a weight system.
In the soft suit category are the dry suits, these suits do not allow
water in and are for icy cold waters. Dive skins are made from spandex
and offer no insulation or warmth but protects the skin from stings
and sunburn. Hard suits are also called atmospheric diving suits; they
control the pressure for those who are diving deep depths.
