Dive Boat

A dive boat is used when divers would like to reach a dive site that cannot be swum to. Similar to normal boats dive boats also have a marine radio and oxygen first aid in case of accidents or emergencies. There are three main types of dive boats.

The most basic dive boat is called a rigid-hulled inflatable boat. This boat is light-weight, small, and easy to transport. It is equipped with a radio and first aid and often a dive shot. A dive shot is used as a guide for divers to follow to find their way back to the surface near the boat.

The boat has inflatable tubes on the side to make for easy entrance and exit. The day boat however, is vastly different. The day boat is a dive boat meant for all day excursions. The boat has a diving platform to exit the boat and a ladder to return. These boats have a bathroom, a small kitchen, and an area to rest called the saloon.

Liveaboards are used by commercial divers. These large boats have sleeping quarters and all the necessities for trips extending several days or weeks. They may contain gas blending facilities and a recompression chamber to aid the professional divers.
